IPAC also engages positively at the hearings of various committees such as CEDAW and CERD.
By engagement through these Treaty body mechanisms, IPAC seeks to engage with the international community on the issue of human rights in India and acts as a facilitator voicing the opinions and representing the civil society in India at such engagements.
IPAC, also engages with Civil Society Organizations and Parliamentarians in India, in respect of the issues and recommendations made by the UN Committees. Past engagements with such thematic focus include the organization of a Discussion on India and Human Rights in the context of Universal Periodic Review (Human Rights Council) in 2013 as well as a Civil Society Discussion on the Report of the UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women in India: 4th and 5th Combined Periodic Report to CEDAW in New Delhi. At both events the aim was to engage civil society in India and Parliamentarians on how the recommendation of the Human Rights Council or the CEDAW Committee can be successfully adopted within the Indian domestic contexts.
