IFI Monitoring
Development financing has the power to transform lives, but when implemented without accountability, it can displace communities, harm ecosystems, and exclude the very people it intends to serve. At IPAC, we ensure that projects funded by international financial institutions (IFIs) are transparent, inclusive, and socially responsible. Our work combines community engagement, independent monitoring, and policy advocacy to hold financial actors accountable and to promote development that is sustainable, just, and people-centered.
Community Consultations on Development Impacts
These dialogues bring together women, youth, local leaders, and other stakeholders in safe, inclusive spaces to raise concerns, share experiences, and propose solutions. The insights gathered feed directly into IFI safeguard frameworks, ensuring that local realities influence both planning and implementation.
Tracking AIIB-Funded Projects in India
Across India, we monitor projects financed by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to ensure they meet social, environmental, and human rights safeguards. Our monitoring looks beyond numbers to the lived realities of affected communities—examining how projects impact livelihoods, ecosystems, and local well-being.
By documenting these experiences, we generate evidence-based insights that are shared with policymakers, civil society, and the media. This strengthens accountability and ensures that international financiers remain answerable to the people most affected by their investments.
Advocacy for Transparent Finance
Monitoring is only the first step—systemic change requires advocacy. We produce research reports, policy briefs, and case studies that spotlight challenges and successes in IFI-funded projects.
These findings inform our advocacy with policymakers, financial institutions, and international bodies, pushing for stronger human rights safeguards, greater financial transparency, and participatory decision-making. Our goal is simple: ensure that development financing prioritizes people and communities over profits, delivering outcomes that are fair, inclusive, and sustainable.
Civil Society as Watchdogs
IPAC plays a proactive role in strengthening oversight of IFI-funded projects. Through partnerships with national coalitions and civil society networks, we build platforms for joint monitoring and knowledge exchange.
These alliances track compliance with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, identify risks early, and raise timely alerts when community rights are threatened. By acting as a watchdog, we ensure financiers remain accountable and projects align with principles of justice, equity, and sustainability.
